…but don’t just take our word for it.

Hype Building completed the conversion of a public house into 6 self-contained flats for us, and we’re really happy with how everything turned out. The standard of work was great. A special mention to Phil, the Project Manager, who was brilliant throughout. He was always helpful, easy to deal with, and kept everything moving smoothly from start to finish. We’d definitely recommend Hype Building to anyone looking for a professional and dependable building company. Photos attached.

Absolutely thrilled with the renovation work by John and his team! The results are beautiful, they were incredibly communicative throughout the process. There were a few slight issues, but they were promptly and very generously remedied. Highly recommend!

Cannot recommend HYPE Building enough. John helped us to design (and construct) our extension, kitchen and cloakroom. He was available from the beginning of the build to the end - his advice was invaluable and he ensured everything was within permitted development rules. His team of professional tradesmen were exceptional, they turned up when they said they would and worked extremely hard to ensure the work was completed before Christmas 2022 - even with the weather against them. They managed the project between them very professionally and were honest and upfront about progress and potential issues. All in all they managed to make the wife happy and that is a massive achievement.

I had some work done in my office and showroom for the building I manage. Nothing was any trouble for John and his team they are very friendly, reliable and clean great workmanship and affordable. I would recommend Hype/John to anyone else. John will be my go to builder for any other projects I may have personal or business like this one.

Hype Building! John and his team have been absolutely fantastic with our project, we have absolutely nothing but praise for this company. HYPE Building are at last builders you can trust, John and his whole team are outstanding in all that they do. Their work is impeccable, communication is key in all projects and these guys certainly keep everything stress free and deliver the goods! We have recently had some work completed by John and his team and we are absolutely in awe of our whole experience from start to finish with the expertise from this company. Fabulous, down to earth, easy going bunch of people who deliver and do exactly what it says on the tin……We explained to John what we would like, he listened and him and his team delivered. Our on site build team were impeccable in their work, Lee who managed the project for us was outstanding with excellent communication at all points throughout the build, being onsite with Doug from day one. The whole team were great, the bricklayer, electrician, decorator, allowing us to exude confidence in them all. The work that has been completed has transformed an unusable space in our house to an exceptional space that gets utilised daily! We have no hesitation in recommending Hype, get in touch today to make your vision become a reality, we are so pleased we did.

Hype building recently completed a full refurbishment of a 4 bed student HMO in Stoke-On-Trent. I had already heard of the team and the quality of work they could provide after speaking to people involved in the property indudustry. The teams professionalism and expertise were apparent from day one as they listened to my requirments and provided options and solutions to get the best results. Designs were discussed and a schedule of works was created to fit into a tight time scale. John and his team were dedicated in providing quality of work that met all building regulations and specification. There was some confusion on the design initially however this was quickly and effectively corrected and it was apparent that customer satisfaction was paramount to John and his team and nothing was too much trouble. The communication throughout the project was second to none with constant updates and clear information provided when further decisions needed to be made such as a new roof being required. John is extremely knowledgeable with all building matters and he is a master at finding snags to get perfection. The whole team provide a truly professional and high skilled service. If you are looking for a hands free solution from concept to the finished item then I cannot recommend Hype Building enough.

Having used Hype building a couple of times ourselves my Father in law needed some roof work done ,a chimney lowering, and some much needed pointing work done. We contacted Hype and booked in the work. The lads turned up on time and explained everything to my Father in law .They have done a fantastic job and he is very happy with the work and so are we knowing we have a company we can trust, he also commented on how clean and tidy they left everything, I highly recommend Hype to anyone considering any building work

John is a true gent, he happily gave an honest assessment of the work required to my property without trying to upsell. He’s clearly a very skilled and capable builder. I look forward to working with him in the future. Thanks John!

John and his team have given us a brilliantly finished open plan ground floor in our little semi; really friendly and felt reassured by John's knowledge and experience. John's trustworthy and honest. His team have done a great job and given us a space that we love.

Having had to resort to surfing YouTube to get some idea about what could be the source of the damp problem affecting my house I reached out to the Hype team. A few days later I got a call from John himself and he very generously gave me some sound and sensible advice on what could be causing the issue and more importantly how to fix it. Thank you so much and when I get it sorted - I'll post another review to sing your praises again #BigUpJohnAtHype.

John and his team helped us with a simple repair in complicated circumstances. They've been absolutely brilliant from start to finish. It's not always gone smoothly, especially getting everything in order to just be able to start the work! John was really patient and did everything he could to accommodate us, Dan was amazing and the lads who came out to do the scaffolding and the job were fantastic too. They are all great blokes, so friendly, helpful and professional, couldn't fault them at all 😁

John is very knowledgeable and have many years of experience in building and construction industry. He's polite, listens and responds promptly and honestly. I'm glad that i used him. Also, his honest advice and opinion on one occasion allowed me to save thousands of pounds. Thank u!

Stumbled across hype via there social media channels whilst looking for a builder to carry out various repairs on a terraced house in Stoke, after meeting several builders to be told I would need to find different tradesmen to do certain aspects of the work, I was relieved when John told me he could project manage the whole project and bring in the correct people to get the job done without me having to worry about anything. So decided Hype was the way to go, just for the ease. I was made aware that the price given was an estimate and could change if any complications throughout the works, which quite soon in it became obviously apparent that more works were indeed required. John was sympathetic with my financial situation and offered multiple solutions to such issues to help reduce the cost of the additional works which I am extremely thankful for. I had many different tradesman around the property that carried out the works, each and every one of them was respectful to myself and did the job that I wanted doing. As with everything there were a couple of snags at the end of the project that I wanted addressed, this couldn’t have been made simpler by John who inspected the works and had the snagging completed without delay or complaints. All in all the team at Hype are all good honest people trying to make a living professionally and honestly, nothing that I asked them seemed to be an issue and the works were completed to my satisfaction. I would definitely be calling hype again if I am in need of such services. Thank you for everything John.

Can't thank this company enough , friendly staff , did me a brilliant quote , and delivered the job to a high standard would recommend them to any one thank you x

Introduced to John via a mutual friend, I was amazed by how responsive and helpful he was from the very beginning. John is the most down to earth, easy to talk to yet knowledgeable builder I have had the pleasure of dealing with, always available at the end of the phone for a query or to provide assistance (at all hours of the day) - and his extensive building knowledge is clearly evident and was invaluable in helping me with my building queries. John was kind enough to carry out some investigative works for me, and went above and beyond providing me with detailed video's and advice once he had completed his survey. I can't recommend my experience with John highly enough - and will definitely look to seek him out for any future building requirements. I would gladly recommend his company to others looking for a reliable builder. My advice is check out his YouTube channel as well - not only are his videos highly informative (and clearly demonstrate he knows his stuff) - but also hilarious.

I recently had the pleasure of working with HYPE Building in Stoke-on-Trent, and I couldn't be more impressed with their service. From start to finish, the entire team was professional, attentive, and genuinely committed to delivering top-notch results. What really stood out to me was the rare combination of **quality and cost-effectiveness** that HYPE Building offers. It's not often you find a company that excels in both areas, but they truly delivered. The workmanship was of the highest standard, yet the costs remained very competitive, which is a huge plus. The team was also fantastic to work with: always responsive, approachable, and ready to go the extra mile to ensure that everything met our expectations. They made the entire process smooth and stress-free. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality building service in Stoke-on-Trent that won't break the bank, I highly recommend HYPE Building. You won’t be disappointed!

After binge watching loads of his YouTube videos I’ve been so impressed with John’s knowledge and his willingness to share it. I knew he’d be the right builder for my HMO conversion. I’ve just had him visit me today to quote, and felt compelled to leave a review as it was such a great meeting. After having a good look around, John was able to find loads of creative solutions to the issues I will have in the conversion. He clearly knows his stuff, he was able to find an answer for everything. He gave me a ball park figure, and gave me several options to go with. He even gave me advice on what work to do if I wanted to change my strategy and flip it. Honestly I can’t believe how much advice he gave me, and he was such a genuinely nice guy. Highly recommended! Thanks again John!

Working on Sunday Saturday from 08 to 04pm Breaking the law Reported them to council Dust every where Friendly but not listening

We contacted Hype Building after watching their YouTube videos. Although we are about 35 miles away today John came to see us and view our potential building issues. After spending sometime with John, we came up with a short term plan for me to implement and a longer term plan for full refurbishment. We will definitely be using Hype Building for these works. John was personable, polite, professional, extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of building work and full of common sense. Moreover he was not interested in taking money until a full solution could be provided. A refreshing approach in a world full of "noise". My dad was a carpenter and I had the good fortune to learn a lot from him. John clearly knows what he is talking about and has a passion for his trade. John was a pleasure to meet and we look forward to working with him and his team. We would definitely recommend Big John and Hype.

From my initial call with Phil, he was great and very empathetic to my current damp situation. John came out a couple of days later, full of knowledge and a really lovely guy. I’m a huge worrier and he really reassured me, no scary sales tactics with him and just a genuine guy. I would 💯 recommend John and his team in the future. Thank you again 🙂

John is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and a great communicator. He came out next day and gave us advice about our basement, which we were worried about and wanted work done to protect from damp in the future. He gave us a run down of what should be done, and really put our minds at rest. Would definitely use him and his team in future.

John from Hype Building Ltd was a breath of fresh air from the start. Very clear communication on what the project would entail in terms of materials needed, time line, costs and gave sound advice when discussing potential additional planning needed. Cannot recommend highly enough and will use gain

Highly recommended. We had a problem with damp and condensation and we were very worried about the cause. Researching on the internet we came across Hype building (the videos on YouTube are very informative). We called John and his team. John came round and searched for the problem, looking for a number of causes and explaining everything as he went. He found the issue (a slow leak on a pipe behind the cupboard) and fixed it. He gave us some great advice. On a personal level - what a great bloke! His is caring, with good humour and trustworthy. Mum and I felt safe in his presence. We definitely will use his services again!

Had a call with John to get an idea of a building project cost. John was very helpful, clearly knew his stuff and gave me some very useful pointers on a number of things including budgets, rental figures and financing. We are looking forward to working with Hype in the near future

I'm currently undergoing renovations on a recent house purchase and Hype Building were recommended to me. I couldn't be happier that they were are as everything from communication to the job itself have been excellent. I needed some walls knocking through and stronger ceiling joists installed to stop the new ceiling from sagging once the walls were gone. John came to the property and discussed the job and then got back to me with a no obligations quote. Once the timbers arrived John cracked on immediately and I was more than impressed at how quick and the quality of work done. It's completely transformed the look of the house already. The place looks far bigger now. I guess it can be likened to when any overly hirsute males do some self grooming, the sheer difference in appearance and perception of size that can be achieved is incredible. In all seriousness, from beginning to end the process of using Hype Building Ltd has been a joy. John not only fulfilled what was asked but also took the time to make the job better than what I had asked for. He knows his stuff, is laid back, has a good laugh with you and gets the job done to the highest standards. We'll absolutely be using Hype for all other planned work in the future! Thanks Hype!

As an individual with limited building/construction knowledge I contacted Hype to arrange an appointment where we could evaluate a potential property. An appointment was arranged within 72 hours and as promised I was met by likeable guy called John who clearly had considerable building knowledge. Over the course of the next 45 minutes he evaluated all aspects of the property giving advice and constructive comments. Considering his advice was given without any guarantee of future work or payment I think it’s testimony to the way Hype have grown their business. Full credit to Hype and their professional but amiable approach!

What a breath of fresh air to speak to someone that is straight talking and tells you the good, the bad and the ugly.Called up Big John about my building contract and issues that were being raised. Very informative and explained all the options available to try and resolve. Can't recommend enough.

I live in a very old victorian terrace property up North and in a bit of a state with a damp issue I'm currently having inside my property. After noticing a smell of strong damp in my living room I decided to investigate it myself so I took out both my cabinets and fire surround only to be horrified by what I saw. My floor doesn't have a membrane and it's not good. After having no luck with damp proofing specialists I came across John's YouTube videos and decided to drop him an e-mail. A couple of days later John rang me and we had a nice chat on the phone. John answered all my concerns relating to this damp issue and advised me on the best options. I give John a 5 star review.

John was a pleasure to talk to. It was clear he has a wealth of knowledge and was keen to help out with any and all questions we had. He was down to earth and easy to talk to, as well as friendly and professional. Will definitely seek him out in the future for future work. His YouTube channel is more than enough evidence of his character and skill. Check him out to see for yourself!

I was in the process of purchasing an investment property. There were several structural issues with the property including wall tie failure. I required an experienced person to advise on the best solution to move forward. John was able to advise not only from a structural/building point of view but also from an investment perspective. John really knows his stuff! He also showed up when promised and spent the time to go through everything with me, which is a rare trait in trades! I'll definitely be using Hypebuilding again!

Really extremely happy with Johns knowledge and experience helped me with my house purchase and quotation for works. I will happily recommend anyone to Hype Building Ltd.

John came to meet me & gave up over an hour of his time to help me consider a property for a HMO project. John gave sound advice and ideas; which without this meeting could have resulted in me buying the wrong property for what we wanted to achieve as a HMO.

After my initial enquiry John was very responsive getting back to me. I received a thorough evaluation of my property, cause of the damp was swiftly identified and the treatment needed was explained incredibly well. Very professional tradesman, highly recommend.

I spoke to John (star of the videos) about the chimney stack in our house and he talked me through my options and gave advice as to what I could do myself initially to diagnose my issues in order to save some money on having tradespeople out. John also took time to look at some photos I sent him and gave advice. Would recommend 👍

I have just posted this up on the HYPE Facebook page: Today we've just had John call round to try and get to the bottom of our damp problem. I think he should change his name to "Honest John". However, like many houses in the Smallthorne area, we are suffering ongoing damp problems. John was able to not only come up with a solution but also told us the best option that would do the job and help save us money in the process. Nice to meet you and many thanks to, "Honest John".

We can highly recommend John for any building project. His keen eye and obvious experience was instrumental for us in avoiding a potential disaster. We are very grateful and hope to be working with him in the near future. If you’re looking for an honest no nonsense approach then this is your man.

John came to give us his opinion on a number of problems we found whilst in the process of buying a house and his knowledge and explanation of everything needed to do gave us the information required to make a decision moving forward. Would highly recommend John and Hype Building. We will be using again in the future.

Very much recommend Hype Building for your building services, John took the time to go round the property and give sound advice in regard to the best solutions. Went above and beyond what I was expecting and I can see why they are rated so highly in Stoke-On-Trent.

Stumbled accross Johns Youtube videos when I was looking for help with a damp issue. Despite being quite a way from "base", John made the trip over to Rugeley and spent time with me thoroughly analysing, diagnosing and EXPLAINING my damp issue. When it came to WHAT could be done to resolve the issue, John was sympathetic to my circumstances and budget and offered various solutions. I would definitely recommend Hype Building Limited. #BigUpJohnAtHype

The work by Hype Building are wonderful. Compared to other builders I have encountered, their quotation is very easy to read as there are photos of what will be installed. Their services are hassle free and speedy. John (a very funny guy) followed up the work carefully. Highly recommend.

Honestly, finding your forever home ain't easy. I think that's especially true if your dream is to find something that needs renovating so you can make it your own. Like many, I spent hours researching Youtube in the hope of finding some guidence and advice on 'what to look out for when buying a renovation project', and that's when I came across Hype Building. Their content is absolute gold and being able to see what they have achieved so far is evidence of their level of prfessionlism and eye for detail. So, I decided to reach out to the team and booked them to come see the property I wanted to buy, and I couln't be happier. Having spoken to John for what felt like hours about my ideas, the renovation and any niggling issue's he'd spotted during his inspection, I left feeling I had just made an important step towards realising our forever family home. Thank you John - I look forward to working with you. Exciting times ahead!

Needed a quote for insurance work and house refurbishment after my mum's house was water damaged and Hype were very good. They came out and were punctual, they inspected the property, took measurements and suggested what work would be carried out before giving us a fully detailed quote for labour and materials. Very professional.

From the first contact with Phil to the home visit and diagnostics by John we felt reassured about the service we were given. The had honest advice and never felt under pressure to have unnecessary work done. Would highly recommend the company

Came across Hype from a YouTube video when researching how to resolve a damp issue that was causing black mould. I’d assumed this was being caused by rising damp, but spoke to John over the telephone, who although could not take the on the job as we’re over 200 miles away, he went out of his way to give me specialist advice for free, confirming the mould isn’t being caused by rising damp but by another issue instead. This has saved me a significant amount of time and money! Thanks John!

Requested for a quote to do some work on our property. John replied and provided a quote however the quote was not itemised per job. Quite a big amount and I think it’s fair for a customer to ask for a breakdown and know exactly what we are paying for. The breakdown would have helped us to budget and exclude some work for a later time. Unfortunately I was ignored despite asking twice. I cannot comment on their actual work as I didn’t that far…

John is extremely considerate, goes above and beyond and gives a helpful hand even when he doesn't need to. Top man, couldn't recommend working with anymore.

I highly recommend them. I wish they were covering my area. My builder messed up and left the job. Then I approached these guys for suggestions how I can clear this mess. Although my house is outside the area these guys cover, they helped me to find a way. Open a branch at Solihull guys. You have a customer here :)

Amazing company, excellent knowledge of all types of building work, really honest genuine lads, would definitely use them again and would 100% recommend them to anyone I know.

Having being in the trade from an Architectural perspective, I was introduced to Hype Building Ltd on a scheme in Newcastle -under-Lyme, for a conversion of an existing commercial unit into flats. John and his team were very good to work with given the amount of building contractors (small & big) I have worked with over the years - Professional, knowledgeable, accommodating and certainly understand what workmanship is required for an end product for any client. I will certainly have no hesitation on putting forward Hype to any future Tender, commercially or domestically
